Where am I ?

It is by the beach and the water.
It is really tall.
It has sheep on it.
There are camping grounds at the bottom of it.
A lot of people walk up or around it.
It is The Mount.

The holidays

In the holiday I went to Australia with my family. We stayed in a place called Bondi Junction in Sydney. We lifted on Monday at 3am to go to Auckland air port. When we got to Auckland we went to my aunties house for about 3hours before we went to the air port. When we left to the air port it was really fogy and we had to wait a little bit longer to get on the the plane. After the fog a cleared we got onto the plane and went to Sydney it took about 3 and a half hours to get there.

E2. Create an original artwork using recycled materials

Under the topic Excellence in the Arts I chose E2 'create an original artwork using recycled materials'. I made was a fruit bow out of old magazines.; my mum found the idea on a site called Pinterest. All I needed was a glue stick, hot glue gun, old magazines and scissors. The instructions were simple - firstly,  I needed to carefully rip the pages out of the old magazine. I then cut the pages in half and folded them three times. After that I wrapped the folded strip of magazine paper around a glue stick to make a circle shape I then continued to wrap the strips around each other until I had made a big bottom for the fruit bowl. When I had finished that I made lots of little circles and glued them around the the bace to make the walls. I kept gluing the circles around the sides until I reached the height I wanted.
This it what it the fruit bowl looked liked when I had finished it.

This is the magazine when it had been folded.

Term 2 Over view

Term 2 was an awesome term we had camp, cross country, interhouse soccer, table tennis and many other things. One of the things I didn't really like was Science fair even thought I got a yellow sticker.
The things I really enjoyed was watching the Rimu house soccer team play soccer and they got into the finals. We lost to Rata house but I still really like watching. My highlight of this term was at the start when we had camp. Camp was so much fun and I really liked doing al the activities.

P5. Compete in a sport for an entire season

The task I chose for Physical Activity and the Outdoors was P5. Compete in a sport for an entire season. I have done lots of sports over the last two terms like rugby, swimming, basketball, surf life saving and volley ball. But the main sport I am going to talk about is my rugby.

I am part of the Mount Rugby Club and I play for a team called Mount Green. This is my first year back playing rugby after playing soccer for many years. I play on the right wing for my team and enjoy the position because the ball can get passed out wide where I am so I can score the tries . We train on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school for about an hour. The we have the real games on Saturdays. My team and I have won most of our games; we have only lost two.

E3. Visit an exhibition and review it. Present your review on your blog.

On Monday my sister and I went to the Tauranga Art Gallery for our home work task Excellence in the Arts. The task is E3. Visit an exhibition and review it. Present your review on your blog. The exhibition was called Corrugations The Art Of Jeff Thomson. We went to the gallery after school to have a look at the beautiful art work. There were lots of different things made out of the corrugated iron such as, letter boxers with animals on top of them, chickens, dogs, house and some other random stuff. Overall my favorite piece of art work was the dog because there was so much detail on the dog and it was really cool how there was lots and lots of layers that have been cut to get the dog looking really good. We watched a video on how Jeff Thomson printed onto the metal. First the iron would be flat and he would print onto it, after that he would use the roller to make the iron corrugated.

There was also another exhibition called Painting Mauao: Painted images of Mount Maunganui since the mid-19th century. It was really cool. I loved looking at the paintings of the Mount especially because I live there. My favourite painting was in a separate room with a projector shining on it. The picture was of part of the mount track and the projector projected real people walking past. I thought this was a very clever idea.

A1. Improve your maths ability: Complete a random 10 x 10 grid in under 2 min

This is one of the home work challengers I choose A1. Improve your maths ability: Complete a random 10 x 10 grid in under 2 min. I used an iPhone to time the 2 minutes and I made the grids on the computer.

It took me a long time to finish the 10 x 10 grid in under 2 minutes. I had to do about 50 grids until I got under 2 minutes. On my first one I had about 20 left over but I kept trying and finally completed it in under 2 minutes.

This is a photo of the gird I completed in under 2 minutes.

A5. Improve your study skills: Research Rimu- where do you find it? Why is it important to Māori? What uses does it have? Why is Rimu the best tree in the school?

This is another home work challenge I have chosen A5. Improve your study skills: Research Rimu- where do you find it? Why is it important to Māori? What uses does it have? Why is Rimu the best tree in the school?

                                                          Rimu Tree

Where do you find it?
It can be found around some of the North Island and lowland forests in the South Island especially on the West Coast where the densest populations can be seen.

Why is it important to Māori?
The Rimu tree is important to Māori because the Rimu tree is native to New Zealand and the Māori’s can use it in many ways, such as medicine. The aromatic leaves of the Rimu were used in vapor baths. It was also used in the manufacturing of weapons, especially heavy-duty long spears.

What uses does it have?
It’s a tall straight tree that can reach heights of up to 50m so it can be used for lots of things. It is one of the most popular native timbers. Rimu can also be used for building houses and making canoes.

Why is Rimu the best tree in the school?
The Rimu tree is the best tree in the school because it can be used for so much more then all the other trees at the school and im am in the house named after the tree. That is why it is the best tree in the school.
This a picture of the Rimu tree leves.

Daily blog post

Yesterday most of my school went to Bay Court to watch our schools production it was called The Most Triumphant tale. I really enjoyed it. It was really cool and funny. It is about two bands that are called One Dimension and Labyrinth. One Dimension was the lip sinkers and Labyrinth are the ones that sing properly. Labyrinth have to win the band battle to they can stop One dimension from making people lip sinker in the future.  My favorite part was when my friend travis was singing and and the time travail thing came down and travis was like running like a little baby.
