Dear Santa,

I think I have been a really good boy this year, that is why I should get lots of presents this year so get your little helpers my make me these things, ok?

So here is what I want
I would really like a new laptop because I dropped it last year and it has got a really big dent in the side of it and I am also in the in inquiry class next year at boys college and I would like you use my laptop in it.

Now what I want is an iPhone 5S because I lost my other phone the other day and I really want a new one so I can text my mum, dad and my friends.

I would also really want new running shoes for Christmas because the ones I have now are too small for me and they hurt my feet and I am really sport and need some shoes to run in.

The last thing I would like is a $1000 because I want to buy my friends presents.

What matter is what something is, not what it is called. this is that meaning of the the quote (a rose by any other name). It is a commonly quoted of a dialogue in william Shakespeare's play Romeo and juliet.

45 min inquiry

In 2011 the New Zealand curling team went to the Asia Pacific championships for curling. In this picture it is NZ vs China unfortunately I do not know who won or lost thins game.

Curling is a sport that is played on ice where you have to slide a stone across the ice aiming for a target that is under the ice. You have to try get the stone as close as you can to the middle of the target.

Curling is also known as chess on ice or the roaring game.

The players use curling brooms, stones and curling shoes

21 Jump street is a very funny movie with lots of action. It came out in 2012 and it was directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Starring Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, Brie Larson, Dave Franco, Rob Riggle and Ice Cube.

21 jump street is about two guys that are police men and they go under cover at a school to see if they can find the teenagers that are selling drugs at the school and then they have to find the dealers.
They find the person selling the drugs and they go with him to the dealers and everything goes crazy there are lots of gun shots and everything but you will have to watch the movie to see what happens next.

I think the movie is a very good and funny movie and there is a lot of action, the movie makes you just want to keep watching to see what happens next. so i would give the movie about a 9/10.  I would recommend this movie for people 14 and over because it is a little rude and people that like comedy and actions movies.

I was diving down a long road, I was going as slow as an obese panda climbing a tree.
As I got closer to a corner I could see big machines pumping smoke into the air.
I could see dying trees and and black skys.

I made my presentation to a class member and they have given me feedback about my presentation below.
Success Criteria
- confidence when they deliver their presentation
- their knowledge is genuine
- information is in their own words

I've got some older friends. (I'm 13, they are 14\15) who have invited me to a party on saturday night at someones house. I'm pretty sure everyone there will be drinking. I've never had alcohol before. I'm going to tell my parents that I'm staying the night at my friends. I feel quite nervous, cos I knew it's bad. what should I do?

I think you should go to the party with your friends but try not to have any drinks but if they make you have one take it and drink it slowly and not to fast, when you finish it go to the bathroom and full the bottle up with water so they think you are drinking.

Homework

For homework I had to measure a tree without climbing it. So I went on youtube and found a good video to show me how to do it. What I needed to do was, go to the stump of the tree and walk out. once I had walked out a little bit I looked under my legs to see if I could see the top of the tree, I could see the top of the tree, so I measured from where I was standing to the tree trunk. And that is how long the tree would be.
In this picture I am looking under my legs to see the top of the tree.

In this Picture I and measuring from where I was standing to  the tree stump.
Once I had done all that the tree was 11.2m hight.

For the last two day the boys in room 41 and 42 made movies. In the movies we had to have a cookie pad it. So one of the groups threw one at someone but they missed and it went down a hill into a bush. But the boys didn't tell anyone. The next day one of the other class mates told on the and they have to go down to try find it. When they were looking for the cookie pad the saw three boys, so they started chasing them and the three boy ran.

My Weekend

Went for a walk with my family.
Enjoyed my rugby game.
Excited about when my sister and my dad got back from the UK.
Kicked my rugby ball and it went onto my roof.
Except for kicking my ball onto the roof I had an awesome weekend.
Nearly got two tries in my rugby game but dropped it over the line.
Dodging a guy in rugby and scoring a try.

On Monday my teacher hurt her back so she had to stay at home and our class had to get a reliever. Our reliever was Miss V she was a cool teacher because we got do to word finds and coloring things. One of the only bad things about her was we weren't aloud to talk at all or we would have to write lines and when she was playing music her songs weren't very cool. The next day the teacher was still bad so we had Mis V again and we did more work sheets.

Rugby is Better Then soccer

Rugby is better then soccer
For
• You get to hold the ball with your hands in steed of controlling it with you feet.
• It is a more contact sport because you can tackle the other team but in soccer if you tackle then you with get sent off.
• It is easier to score tries and get points because you are holding the ball in your hands and all  you have to do is run past the people.
Against
• You can get hurt a lot more in rugby then in soccer because rugby you have to tackle in rugby.
• In rugby there are more fights then is soccer because rugby plays get really angry

The holidays

In the holiday I went to Australia with my family. We stayed in a place called Bondi Junction in Sydney. We lifted on Monday at 3am to go to Auckland air port. When we got to Auckland we went to my aunties house for about 3hours before we went to the air port. When we left to the air port it was really fogy and we had to wait a little bit longer to get on the the plane. After the fog a cleared we got onto the plane and went to Sydney it took about 3 and a half hours to get there.

E2. Create an original artwork using recycled materials

Under the topic Excellence in the Arts I chose E2 'create an original artwork using recycled materials'. I made was a fruit bow out of old magazines.; my mum found the idea on a site called Pinterest. All I needed was a glue stick, hot glue gun, old magazines and scissors. The instructions were simple - firstly,  I needed to carefully rip the pages out of the old magazine. I then cut the pages in half and folded them three times. After that I wrapped the folded strip of magazine paper around a glue stick to make a circle shape I then continued to wrap the strips around each other until I had made a big bottom for the fruit bowl. When I had finished that I made lots of little circles and glued them around the the bace to make the walls. I kept gluing the circles around the sides until I reached the height I wanted.
This it what it the fruit bowl looked liked when I had finished it.

This is the magazine when it had been folded.

Term 2 Over view

Term 2 was an awesome term we had camp, cross country, interhouse soccer, table tennis and many other things. One of the things I didn't really like was Science fair even thought I got a yellow sticker.
The things I really enjoyed was watching the Rimu house soccer team play soccer and they got into the finals. We lost to Rata house but I still really like watching. My highlight of this term was at the start when we had camp. Camp was so much fun and I really liked doing al the activities.

P5. Compete in a sport for an entire season

The task I chose for Physical Activity and the Outdoors was P5. Compete in a sport for an entire season. I have done lots of sports over the last two terms like rugby, swimming, basketball, surf life saving and volley ball. But the main sport I am going to talk about is my rugby.

I am part of the Mount Rugby Club and I play for a team called Mount Green. This is my first year back playing rugby after playing soccer for many years. I play on the right wing for my team and enjoy the position because the ball can get passed out wide where I am so I can score the tries . We train on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school for about an hour. The we have the real games on Saturdays. My team and I have won most of our games; we have only lost two.
Here are some photos of me and my team

E3. Visit an exhibition and review it. Present your review on your blog.

On Monday my sister and I went to the Tauranga Art Gallery for our home work task Excellence in the Arts. The task is E3. Visit an exhibition and review it. Present your review on your blog. The exhibition was called Corrugations The Art Of Jeff Thomson. We went to the gallery after school to have a look at the beautiful art work. There were lots of different things made out of the corrugated iron such as, letter boxers with animals on top of them, chickens, dogs, house and some other random stuff. Overall my favorite piece of art work was the dog because there was so much detail on the dog and it was really cool how there was lots and lots of layers that have been cut to get the dog looking really good. We watched a video on how Jeff Thomson printed onto the metal. First the iron would be flat and he would print onto it, after that he would use the roller to make the iron corrugated.

There was also another exhibition called Painting Mauao: Painted images of Mount Maunganui since the mid-19th century. It was really cool. I loved looking at the paintings of the Mount especially because I live there. My favourite painting was in a separate room with a projector shining on it. The picture was of part of the mount track and the projector projected real people walking past. I thought this was a very clever idea.
This is a picture of me and my sister outside the art gallery.

A1. Improve your maths ability: Complete a random 10 x 10 grid in under 2 min

This is one of the home work challengers I choose A1. Improve your maths ability: Complete a random 10 x 10 grid in under 2 min. I used an iPhone to time the 2 minutes and I made the grids on the computer.

It took me a long time to finish the 10 x 10 grid in under 2 minutes. I had to do about 50 grids until I got under 2 minutes. On my first one I had about 20 left over but I kept trying and finally completed it in under 2 minutes.

This is a photo of the gird I completed in under 2 minutes.

A5. Improve your study skills: Research Rimu- where do you find it? Why is it important to Māori? What uses does it have? Why is Rimu the best tree in the school?

This is another home work challenge I have chosen A5. Improve your study skills: Research Rimu- where do you find it? Why is it important to Māori? What uses does it have? Why is Rimu the best tree in the school?

                                                          Rimu Tree

Where do you find it?
It can be found around some of the North Island and lowland forests in the South Island especially on the West Coast where the densest populations can be seen.

Why is it important to Māori?
The Rimu tree is important to Māori because the Rimu tree is native to New Zealand and the Māori’s can use it in many ways, such as medicine. The aromatic leaves of the Rimu were used in vapor baths. It was also used in the manufacturing of weapons, especially heavy-duty long spears.

What uses does it have?
It’s a tall straight tree that can reach heights of up to 50m so it can be used for lots of things. It is one of the most popular native timbers. Rimu can also be used for building houses and making canoes.

Why is Rimu the best tree in the school?
The Rimu tree is the best tree in the school because it can be used for so much more then all the other trees at the school and im am in the house named after the tree. That is why it is the best tree in the school.
This a picture of the Rimu tree leves.

This is a picture of the big Rimu tree.

The game starts with one team at one end of the square and the other team at the other end of the square. When the whisle goes both teams go get balls and throw them at each other. My dads job

My dad works at the local hospital as a psychiatrist. He talks to crazy people to stop them from making stupid mistakes and things like killing themselves and stuff. It can be dangerous sometimes because they can get angry and can hurt Dad. One time dad was on the news because one of the crazy people had a gun and held it at is head but Dad talked him out of it and calmed him down.

Charging laptops at school

What are the negatives of Rimu charging there laptops at school.
It uses a lot of power.
There will be chargers all around to class and people could trip over them.
I uses a lot of money.

What are the 2 of the suggestions for solving the problem.
We could charge our laptops at lunch times or morning tea.
we could have one or tow chargers at school so there are not to much chargers at school

What is your opinion about Rimu students charging there laptop at school.
I dont like how can charge our laptops at school because peoples laptops batterys are not that good and run out after the second block

Why ants are so strong

Ants are so strong because they are so small that their muscles dont have heavy parts to move round. The smaller the insects the more weight it can carry for its size. Ants also have their skeleton on the out side. Ants can normally carry 100x of their own body weight.

Home work task P5. Compete in a sport for an entire season

Surf Life Saving is one of my sports I like to do and I really enjoy it. I have done surf for 9 years and I started when I was about three years old. This is why I am choosing this as one of my home work challenges P5. Compete in a sport for an entire season.

My surf life saving group trains every day after school from  4:00 to  5:30pm and on Saturday and Sunday we train from 10am to 11:30 or to 12:00. I find training really fun because we do a mix between beach training and water training.

The surf life saving season starts at the start of October and finishes at the end of March. At the end of  the surf life saving season there is the national Junior Championships called Ocean Athletes. It is heled at the Mount main beach over four days and clubs come from all over New Zealand. There are many events in this competition such as board race, beach sprints, beach flags, run swim run and surf race there are also many team events like board relay, beach relay, tube rescue, board rescue, 2k beach relay and Cameron relay.
This is me doing beach flags.
